Exercises While Recovering Fromplantar Fasciitis

The craft school carer

A school carer: "We have a precarious status and no career plan "
On The Post, an AVS explains the difficulties of his craft while 5000 posts carers were removed for school this fall.

AVS for "auxiliary school life", a career support disabled children into mainstream schooling.

And if the acronym has entered the vocabulary of this school year, because the state did not renewed the contract of 5000 of them.

Suddenly, hundreds of children have had to return them without a guide or have been flatly denied re-entry, lack of adult help.

But what is the job?
Who are carers school?
What is their status?

On The Post, Sophie, 30, AVS since 2005 in Paris, told the daily business of a "very rich", but little recognized.

AVS, it consists of what?
"It's very different, it changes every year. This year I worked alongside a little girl of 5 years. This little girl with multiple disabilities. She suffers from severe deafness, a problem of insensitivity to the skin and oral-facial hypotonia. Simply put, it does not quite swallowed and drools a lot.

Every day, I accompany full-time: 24 hours per week. I welcome the morning, I repeated the teacher's instructions and supporting it in its tasks. I supervise in the playground so that it does not hurt because it does not smell when it hurts. And then I take care of its foreign exchange as this little girl is not clean. In addition, I help to other children in the class, if any. "

is the first year that you work with this girl?
"Yes. Before, I took care of an autistic child and a child with hemiplegia and delays in learning. I also worked 2 years with a girl in a wheelchair, on life support breathing. And last year, I support a little boy with multiple disabilities who had organic disorders and behavioral problems. "

It is not difficult to change every year?
"If, because you have to adapt quickly to new situations and new challenges. And why not do a job in the long term with the same child ? The answer is simple: do not create a dependent relationship with the child and let it evolve with other people. In some cases, it is still difficult, particularly with autistic children who have difficulty with change. "

AVS How do you become?
" For envy, at least for me. I had worked with disabled adults. I spent my BAFA and worked with children. And then I have a bachelor of science in education. So, I applied. It follows a training of 2 years while in office. To be

AVS, there is only need a BA or tray 2. Many, like me, are overqualified. More importantly, it has a status of shit. Yes, I say. "

Precisely, what is your status?
" A fixed-term contract, underpaid, super-fragile. Well, we must recognize that we are paid over 12 months when we have school holidays. But beyond that, there is no competition to join the National Education, there was no clear career plan ... And wage levels, it is around 800 euros for contracts 20h. I heard about a "1,131 dollars" for AVS in college or high school. No more. "

How do you see your future?
"I think to make a validation of acquired experience (VAE) for a position monitor-educator in a specialized environment. To have a permanent status and also more ways to help the children ..."

The balance on your AVS experience is so negative ...
"No. It's rewarding work. You meet different children, different teams. It is often very positive. Especially that we form a generation that will have a different view of disability to be rubbed at school. But sometimes it goes wrong ... "

That is to say?
"The law has the merit to exist and allow the education of disabled children. But we must see under what conditions. SIAs are there because it is cheaper than the day hospital. And in some cases , children are not in their place. They demand too much, we put them up for failure without giving them the means to go further ... "
